Doula originates from the Greek word meaning "woman who serves." A ProDoula Postpartum & Infant Care Doula brings experience, companionship, and emotional support to parents and their newborns while providing physical, educational and non-judgemental support.
A postpartum doula is a professional support person trained in the needs of the family in the days, weeks and months after birth or the addition of a new baby. The doula offers non-judgmental support, guidance, evidence-based education and practical hands-on support immediately after birth through the first year.
The doula's primary focus is on the pregnant person's recovery from birth, the baby's adjustment to life on the outside and family support. The doula is well versed in bottle and breastfeeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, sleep guidance, infant soothing and general coping skills. Additionally, the doula assists with meal preparation, light housework and the general needs of the family during the postpartum period and beyond.
Sleep shaping is not about training your baby to stop crying or letting you know they need something. It is about giving your baby everything they need so they sleep well. We work together on different parenting styles, techniques and individual needs of the family to get everyone the rest they need.
During our 2 Hour In-depth Home Assessment. We will discuss Safe Sleep Environment, Health Assessment, Sleep Education for your Baby & Family Values, Discuss Developmental Stages and Gentle Sleep Shaping Solutions are just some of the topics covered during this time. We decided on a plan of action and work together over a period of 2 to 4 weeks using the Making Moms Sleep toolbox.
